When you hear the demanding voice, raw street lyrics, rapid-fire words, and the name Big Mali, you would never believe Mali was 18year old petite woman just recently graduating from High School. Mali has seen it all through her observant eyes. She was born and raised in Henderson, NC, by her single mother and older brothers until four years ago when they relocated to Raleigh, NC. Her full lyrics paint a clear image of the street environment in which she was raised. Mali began rapping less than four years ago when she realized she had a gift with words and was out rhyme the guys in her neighborhood. Mali's big personality has not let her back down from any challenges and proven many non-believers wrong when they told her she was not good enough. In 2018 Mali released her first project, "If I Fall Asleep", which featured the hit single "Migo pt. 2". In 2019 Mali released "Uhuh Freestyle," which caught the attention of SCMG EVP Carter. "I've never heard a girl sound so raw and authentic as Mali. I remember watching all her YouTube videos in one night and waking up earlier the next morning to call Arnold and let him know I found our First Lady". Arnold Taylor, the CEO of SCMG, adds, "Once I heard her music, the determination in her voice, and her story, I instantly knew Mali embodied struggle and heart of The Carolina's, and we needed her on SCMG". In late 2019 Mali signed with SCMG, and this pass March 2020 released her first project under the label called "First Lady."
